Audition now for the East Bay premier women’s ensemble! Recent winners of the Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award, WomenSing’s 2010-11 season New Beginnings will celebrate not only its 45thanniversary but also the auspices of a new decade. In December, Tidings of Joy will feature Men and WomenSing joining in the majestic traditional English carols of Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia with solo baritone and cello accompaniment, and the theatrical and cheerful Toast pour le nouvel an by Rossini. We will be touring Washington, D.C. in early May, taking our Youth Inspiring Youth works to the Library of Congress. Featured composer Libby Larsen’s Stepping Westward, will be our concert theme in June, including authentic American folk music drawn from pioneer experiences, a set of traditional and unexpected miniature love songs, and our third-year Youth Inspiring Youth premieres, in collaboration with Acalanes and Miramonte high schools. Scholarships are available for qualified singers.
