It’s back to work this week! WomenSing is off to Spain in a few short weeks. But Bay Area fans will be happy to learn of the pre-tour concert on July 10 at Holy Names University (HNU). After the just-ended concert season, the group will share the polish and pizzazz that won them an invitation to its first international competition in the Festival Internacional de Música de Cantonigròs in the Catalonia region of Spain and at the opening night of the Festival de Musica de Sant Pere de Rodes in Port de la Selva on the Mediterranean coast.

This concert at HNU is the first campus event in the newly formed community partnership between the university and the chorus. It is hoped music and friendships can build new links to develop community within the area, uncovering needs, as well as sharing beauty and joy. WomenSing has used some HNU facilities for workshops and concerts in the past, and now will work more closely with faculty and staff.

As a special treat to both old and new friends, the July 10 concert at HNU’s Valley Center for the Performing Arts is FREE. Holy Names is located at 3500 Mountain Boulevard in Oakland, just off Highway 13. The music begins at 7:30 p.m.
