WomenSing will reprise The Light of Hope Returning, a stunning, Holiday American folk oratorio, combining women’s voices and live visual art. Recognized by the San Francisco Classical Voice as the Bay Area’s “Audience Choice Winners for best virtual choral performance during 2020-2021 season,” WomenSing will now be joined on stage by its animator, renowned New York-based artist, Kevork Mourad. Throughout the performance, Mourad will create illustrations projected on screen that will evolve and become a live-drawing animation to the music. Vocal soloists and instrumentalists from Bay Area orchestras will also be featured.

Shawn Kirchner composed The Light of Hope Returning for WomenSing in 2019, where he tapped into the lush variety of American musical heritage composing new carols and arranging familiar ones. Enjoy hearing the traditions of folk, gospel and Appalachian songs along with the colors of fiddle, bluegrass-style piano, and jubilant jazz saxophone. This memorable multi-media performance will be for one night only. Illustrations created during this performance will be available for purchase afterward.
